Obituary of Matilde Custodio

Matilde Custodio age 87 left us to meet her Savior on Saturday September 6, 2014. She passed in her home with her family and friends by her bedside. Matilde was born in San Sebastian, PR and a resident of Vineland for 64 years. She worked as a Seamstress for 26 years and was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing & Textile Workers Union. Matilde's passion was volunteering in her community and was a longtime member of Acción Social Puertorriqueña, Inc., served on such committees as the Festival Puertorriqueño of New Jersey, Inc. and John F. Kennedy Memorial located in Landis Park. Matilde was a member of the Puerta de Refugio Church for 39 years where she earned many awards and recognition and loved by the entire congregation. Matilde enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Margaret Custodio, Brunilda Custodio and Enrique Custodio, Jr., Grandchildren; Lisa Gonzalez (Alan Curley), Jasmine Demby (Shane Demby), Nadia Avila (Alexander Avila), Adam Diaz, Michael Diaz, Jennifer Herbert (Jose Martinez) and Nicole Custodio. She has 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Enrique Custodio, parents Lino Lisojo, Juan Colon and Juana Hernandez, Brothers; Pedro Lisojo, Faustino Colon and Sister Felicita Colon. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 10am at the Puerta de Refugio Church, 1575 N Valley Ave., Vineland. Matilde will be laid to rest at Siloam Cemetery, Vineland. Friends will be received on Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland and again on Friday morning at the CHURCH from 9am to 10am.
